GINS conducts workshops in a wide range of areas. Our instructors have been requested around the world for their theories on learning styles and retention. We have performed workshops on the structure of the intellect and theories of multiple intelligences. We also have workshops directed at the following:


Internet and the elementary classroom
This course will be an overview of resource sites explored for elementary teaching along with activities based upon these resources. Teachers will need introductory internet training prior to this class. They will explore the best sites for resources and will be assisted in ways of utilizing resources for activities and will be stepped through sample activities. This course is intended to demonstrate how the Internet can be helpful in teaching. It is not a course on integrating the Internet into part of the everyday classroom schedule. Internet and the secondary classroom
This will be the same as the elementary classroom course but altered to fit the subject areas of the secondary classroom.

Internet and Gifted and Talented
Gifted and talented activity based internet activities. Key issues regarding project based activities will be discussed as sample activities are shown with site exploration.

Multimedia in the Classroom
Curriculum development utilizing multimedia computer technology will be taught with hands-on developmental activities. A sampling of various disciplines will be demonstrated. For best results, prior PowerPoint, Excel, and Word training should have been completed.

Integrating the Internet into the Classroom
Participants will work with hands-on planning to integrate utilization of the internet into the curriculum. Prior internet training needed. Upon request and 10 or more participants, subject area specific training can be provided.

Student Activities with Microsoft Office
Participants will utilize the Microsoft Office Suite for powerful classroom student production activities. A step by step building process will be demonstrated and practiced by participants. Prior Word, Excel, and PowerPoint training recommended. Upon request and 10 or more participants, subject level specific classes may be provided.

Teacher Presentation Strategies
PowerPoint and multimedia as a presentation and self-containing teaching tool for remediation, self-paced, and extension instruction. Participants learn the why's, how's, if's, and's, and but's of building, storing, and disseminating such programs.

Weaving the Web Wonderfully
Using the Internet:

This course is designed to introduce users to the fascinating world of the Internet. It will cover the following topics:

  • A brief history of the Internet
  • How to get connected to the Internet
  • Communicating through email
  • How to use a browser (Netscape and/or Microsoft Explorer)
  • Surfing from place to place
  • Finding what you want with search engines
  • Downloading what you find
  • The Web for work and pleasure
  • Cleaning up: Performing some routine browser maintenance
Course Length: 3-4 hours
