What is HTML: A Textbook Guide?

Possibly your first question is what is HTML? HTML is an acronym for Hypertext Markup Language. It is a set of tags that is used to create pages on the World Wide Web. HTML: A Textbook Guide is an instruction manual for learning how to manipulate these tags in order for you to create your own Web pages.

While it is directed towards a high school Web mastering course, it can be used by anyone, at any level, and in any field. It contains strait forward explanations and examples and each chapter concludes with a summary, list of tags introduced, and some questions and exercises.

About the Layout

The book is layed out as a logical sequence of pages like you would see in a standard paper document. Navigation is provided at the top and bottom of every page to take you to the next or the previous page in the book. Along the left side of every page is an "At A Glance" contents of the book. These links will take you to the first page in that chapter. There are also HOME and INDEX buttons at the top of every page. HOME will take you to the first page of the book. INDEX will take you to a listing of tags and keywords with links to there position in the text.
